Dolphins Squeeze by the Rams

The Miami Dolphins won Sunday against the Rams, but if they want to make the playoffs they are going to have to step their game up. The upside to the win was the play of the defense. The rams did not score a touchdown, but did get 4 field goals. The Dolphins play the Bills next week and need a win to stay in the playoff hunt. The Dolphins already defeated Buffalo in Miami earlier in the year, and a win next Sunday would give the Dolphins a 3 and 2 record in the division. I expect the Dolphins to pick up the pace next week and make a good run for the playoffs.

Dolphins fall to the Patriots

It was an offensive shootout with the Patriots taking the victory 48 to 28. Miami kept up with the Patriots all the way until the fourth quarter. They looked like they just kind of gave up towards the end, but miami fans have to be pleased with how they played through the first three quarters. Miami's defense struggled all day long. Looking at the remainder of the schedule it looks like miami can still come away with at least 10 wins this season.

Patriots at dolphins

The excitement will be in the air this Sunday, as the New England Patriots travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. For the first time in a long time, Miami is actually playing for something. If Miami beats the Patriots, they will be in contention with the jets for first, and if the jets lose against the undefeated Titans they might actually be tied.

Big Turnaround in Miami

How could have anyone guessed that the Dolphins would have been doing this good at this point of the season. After going 1 and 15 last year, Bill Parcells stepped in as the vice president of football operations and surgically dissected this team, and now they are playoff contenders. Here is a list of positives from what we have seen so far from the Miami Dolphins.

1. "Wild cat, wild cat, wild cat". I cant say this enough. Ok, the wild cat is not the only reason for the Dolphins recent success, but it has it's positives. This formation, which consists of a direct snap to the running back with the quarterback lining up in a slot position has had some defenses baffled. The best part of the wildcat formation is that it forces other teams to focus on it instead of preparing for thier base offense, which Miami has also been known to run trickery out of.

2. Chad Pennington. I cant say enough good things about what chad pennington brings to this team. He bring Leadership, poise, confidence, and most of all, he does not turn the football over very often.

3. Tony Sparano. Lets give credit where credit is due. The work ethic and fundimental teachings of this coach is what drives this team. Right now the Miami Dolphins are getting the job done.

4. Tedd Ginn Jr. This guy is special. The forty yard touchdown off of the reverse that he ran against the Raiders showed just how hungry this guy is. It makes you think that anything can happen when this guy touches the ball.

5. Joey Porter. He leads the NFL in sacks, need I say more.

6. The Dolphins win games. They had so many close calls last year. This year they are getting the job done. They are finishing games with long drives that take time off of the clock, and guess what, they are scoring touchdowns at the end of these drives.

7. The Ronnie and Ricky show. With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in the backfield they have two Pro Bowl caliber running backs running the football.

8 Patric Cobbs. He goes in unnoticed, and scores touchdowns.

Lets not scream Superbowl, because we know that that is probably not gonna happen, but the playoffs sound really nice considering this Dolphins team has been struggling to find thier identity in recen years. Time will tell, and hopefully the Dolphins will prevail.

Dolphins take on Raiders

Can Miami put it to the Raiders this weekend. I dont think that the dolphins will fall into a trap. They almost fell into a trap last weekend, but they put together a long fourth quarter drive that helped seal the game.

miami gets the job done against the seahawks

Miami did what they had to do to get the job done against the seahawks today. Three touchdowns and no field goals was the story for the miami offense with two of them coming early. The Seahawks tried to make a comeback at the end, but the miami defense stepped up big at the end. Ricky williams had a big day with 105 rushing yards including a 51 yarder for a touchdown coming from the wildcat formation. Ronnie brown only had 39 rushing yards, but also scored a 16 yard touchdown run also coming from the wildcat formation. Ted Ginn scored early on a fleaflicker play giving him his first touchdown of the season on a 39 yard reception. He also ran the opening kickoff back 100 yards for a touchdown, but it was brought back on a holding penalty. This miami team is making some noise in the division, with a win over New England and Buffalo they are 2-1 in the division and have improved to 5-4 on the season. They are playing solid football, and are finding ways to win games. They are on a 3 game winning streak, and have what some think is the easiest schedule during the second half of the season. All of us Dolfans finally have something to be happy about. Click Here for stats

Dolphins and the Playoffs

Sounds like the dolphins are starting to talk Playoffs. Could you imagine a 1 and 15 team turns it around and makes the playoffs the following year. We don't want to get too excited too early, but this is the first sign of life we have seen in a long time
Here's what I like about the Dolphins. Parcel's and company did the traditional Parcel's thing in the offense by rebuilding what I like to call the shell, Jake Long and a handful of draft picks and offseason moves that consisted of players who Parcel's either had a hand in drafting or coached, Including the most important piece of the puzzle Chad Pennington. Now, yes this is a young team, but Players Like Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown Provide experienced weapons. They already had a deep threat in ted ginn jr. , no matter how slow of a start he has gotten off too, that kind of speed is rare, and what a steal they got on Bess, the undrafted free agent reminds me alot of Wes Welker. Sparano has done a great job of coaching this team, and has kept these guys out of the training room with very little injuries. They take on a banged up Seahawks team this weekend. I would like to see them improve to 5 and 4.
